Turkey – International Labour Law in Effect

As previously announced, a new International Labour Law took effect in August, which amended some articles of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection, allowing for more flexibility for foreign national resident permit holders in Turkey.

Currently, as of August 13th, 2016, foreign nationals who have a short term residence permit or a dependence residence permit in Turkey will no longer be subject to rules of stay outside of Turkey for 120 days in one year (for short-term residence permit holders) or 180 days in a year (for dependent residence permit holders).

The new regulation permits foreign nationals to remain outside of Turkey without jeopardizing their residence. Furthermore, extensions of a family residence permit are now valid for a duration of 3 years, rather than the previous maximum of a 2 year validity period.
