Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre- approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. While the program is intended for use by frequent international travelers, there is no minimum number of trips necessary for qualification to the program.
Program participants bypass immigration and customs lines following international flights via the Global Entry kiosks (for a list of all kiosk locations, click here). At these kiosks, participants are to present their machine- readable passport or U.S. permanent resident card, place their fingertips on the scanner for fingerprint verification, and make a customs declaration. Participants are not required to complete the printed customs declaration form before arrival. Upon issuance of a transaction receipt, the kiosk will direct the traveler to the baggage claim and the exit. It should be noted that it is possible that participating travelers will be selected for further examination upon entrance to the United States.
This program is available to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, Dutch citizens, South Korean citizens, and Mexican nationals. Canadian citizens and residents who are members of the NEXUS program may also be able to take advantage of Global Entry benefits. Click here for more information regarding Global Entry eligibility. Prior to enrollment in the program, applicants must undergo a background check and interview. More information about the application process is available here. Violation of the program’s terms and conditions will result in appropriate enforcement action and revocation of the traveler’s membership privileges.
