Thailand – New measures for filing at the One-Stop Service Center
The One-Stop Service Center (OSSC) in Thailand was established to make the processing of visas and work permits for qualified foreign investors, experts, and correspondents, including their family members, simpler. Visas and work permits for these categories are typically issued within 3 hours at the OSSC.
Thai authorities have recently added new measures to applications for long term dependents, including renewals, due to receiving fraudulent documents from certain nationalities applied for at the OSSC. An application for long term dependents filed at the Immigration Bureau are required to obtain legalized marriage and birth certificates, however, this measure is now also applied to applications filed at the One-Stop Service Center (OSSC).
Documents legalized for use in Thailand must either be legalized by an embassy in Thailand or legalized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where the document was issued and then authenticated in their home country’s Thai Embassy. All documents must either be in English or Thai, or otherwise must be translated.
The tighter restrictions apply to the following 21 nationalities: Argentina; Bangladesh; Bolivia; Chile; Columbia; Gambia; Ghana; Guinea; India; Iran; Liberia; Mali; Nepal; Nigeria; Pakistan; Peru; Senegal; Sierra Leone; Sri Lanka; Togo; and Uganda.
