Sweden – Faster Processing for Work and Residence Permit Applications

Effective May 2, 2017, the Swedish Migration Agency has implemented a faster process for work and residence permit applications submitted by certified companies.

First-time applications submitted on or after May 2, 2017 will be processed within ten business days, while extension applications will be processed within twenty business days. Applications already submitted on or before May 1, 2017 will be processed through the previous system.

Fast-track processing is available for applications submitted by certified companies (including by relocation companies on behalf of their clients). The application must be complete and submitted online.

In April, the Swedish Migration Agency reported that initial work and residence permit applications were taking from one to two months to process, and that extension applications could take up to seven months, even for applications submitted by certified companies.
