Singapore – Salary Threshold for Local Employees to Increase

Beginning July 1, 2017, the salary threshold for local employees as full or part time will increase. The threshold will be raised from $1,000 SGD to $1,100 SGD per month for local full time employees for quota purposes. Local employees considered part time must earn between $550 SGD – $1,100 SGD.

The salary threshold will increase again on July 1, 2018 to $1,200 SGD per month for local full time employees. Local employees considered part time must earn between $600 SGD – $1,200 SGD.

Under the current regulation, companies can hire foreign nationals based on the number of full-time equivalent local workers they have employed, up to the Dependency Ratio Ceiling.
