Singapore – Minimum Salary Increase for Employment Passes

Beginning January 1, 2017, the minimum salary for Employment Passes will increase from SG $3,300 to SG $3600 per month. Employers that hired foreign nationals before January 1, 2017 may renew the existing salary criteria for three years. There will be an adjustment period between January 1 and June 30, 2017, in which the employer may renew the current salary for one year. However, after July 1, 2017, the salary must meet the new requirements and may be renewed for three years.

The Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) on the Ministry of Manopower’s website recommends that employers check the eligibility of the foreign national to ensure the salary is within the new criteria. The SAT will be updated in a few months to accommodate the change in salary.
