MEXICO – Employers Subject to INM Inspections
Mexican employers, especially those deemed noncompliant with immigration laws and those employing a substantial number of foreign workers, have recently been experiencing an increase in compliance inspections being conducted by officials of the National Migration Institute (INM). Since INM officials may conduct unannounced visits or give employers only 24 hours’ notice, it is imperative that employers ensure they always remain compliant with these laws, keep all appropriate documentation on file and have their legal representative present during any and all inspections.
Inspections may be conducted if a company is suspected of employing foreign nationals without proper documentation, to verify the information that a company provided or to simply prevent immigration violations.
