ITALY – New Documentation Requirements for Intracompany Transfers in Milan
Effective immediately, intracompany transfers in Milan are subject to new documentation requirements. The Milan Immigration Office is requiring that the employees provide evidence of their highly specialized knowledge within their field. As such, university diplomas will no longer be accepted. Instead, applicants must provide the Immigration Office with one of the following: a detailed curriculum vitae (CV) that outlines their educational and work experience or a letter from the sending employer in the home country, which confirms the employee’s highly specialized knowledge. This letter should be legalized or apostilled, and then translated into Italian. As a result of this change, foreign nationals who do not hold a degree from a university may be eligible to obtain an intracompany transfer (ICT) permits, if they have the required experience: six years of experience in the same sector or six years with the same sending company.
