IRELAND – Payment System Responsible for Delays in Processing

After revising its employment permit scheme and transitioning to a new a case management system earlier this year, the Irish Department of Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation is experiencing some issues with its new payment system. Under the new system, payment of application fees is submitted online and the Department will not begin processing until the payment has cleared. Unfortunately, this condition oftentimes adds up to a week to the process. Normal processing times are four to six weeks but have since been extended to almost eight weeks. Employers and foreign employees should be aware of these longer processing times and should also expect additional delays due to the upcoming holiday season.
