Ireland – Online Appointment System to be Launched in the Fall

An online appointment system will be launched this fall to allow foreign nationals to register an appointment with the immigration authorities. Foreign nationals who plan to stay in Ireland for longer than three months, must register with the immigration authorities at the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) within three months of arrival. Wait times at the GNIB are long and the new online appointment system will allow the foreign national to select an appointment time that is convenient for them.

The Garda National Immigration Bureau and Irish Immigration and Naturalization Service (INIS) are working together to simplify the immigration process. The INIS is responsible for entry visa and re-entry visa elements and introduced an online appointment system for re-entry visa applications last year. This will save time for the foreign national to select a time more convenient for them and their schedule.
