CANADA – New Stream under the International Mobility Program

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), formerly known as CIC, has introduced a new stream within the International Mobility Program called the Mobilité Francophone stream which will officially launch on June 1, 2016. This new stream will exempt employers from the Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) when hiring French-speaking foreign workers in managerial, professional and technical/skilled trade occupations to work in French-speaking minority communities outside of Quebec.

The Mobilité Francophone stream aims to attract French-speaking foreign workers to Canada specifically to French-speaking minority communities outside of Quebec. IRCC wants French-speaking immigrants to make up at least 4% of all economic immigrants settling outside of Quebec by 2018. That desired target will slowly increase to 4.4% by 2023.
