Canada – Mandatory use of ArriveCan APP

As of November 21, 2020, all travelers to Canada will be required to submit their information digitally through the ArriveCAN application prior to boarding their flight in case of air travel, or before arriving at the Point of Entry, if travelling by land or sea.

The ArriveCAN application, which is available on Android and iOS platforms, can be easily downloaded onto a mobile phone from their respective app stores. ArriveCAN is also available online via (https://arrivecan.cbsa-asfc.cloud-nuage.canada.ca/privacy).

ArriveCAN enables passengers to submit the following information easily and securely:

  • Provide required travel and contact information
  • Outline mandatory quarantine plan (unless exempt under specific conditions)
  • Provide COVID-19 symptoms self-assessment

The information must be submitted before the passenger boards the flight to Canada. The passengers will be required to show their ArriveCAN receipt when seeking entry into Canada. A border services officer will verify that the information was submitted digitally. Passengers who fail to comply with this requirement may face additional delays at the border for public health questioning, or even be subject to enforcement action which could result in $1000 fine.

After arriving to their destination, the passengers are required to use ArriveCAN (or call 1-833-641-0343) within 48 hours to confirm that they have arrived at the address provided for their quarantine location. They are also required to use the app to provide daily COVID-19 symptom self-assessment for the duration of their quarantine period.

Inputting information via the mobile app will generate a summary of traveler information, which will be used by Border Services Officers and Quarantine Officers at ports of entry to support health screening protocols. ArriveCAN information will ensure that travelers comply with the mandatory isolation orders. You may be contacted during your mandatory isolation period for verification of compliance.
