Brazil – New Rules for Residence Renewal Published

On July 25, 2018, the National Immigration Council published Normative Resolution 30/2018 regulating procedures for the renewal of residence authorization for foreign professionals, effective immediately.

Residence Renewal

Normative Resolution 30 establishes that the Ministry of Labour may renew the period of residence authorization for up to two years or change the term of residence to an indefinite period. The Ministry of Labour will make a decision on a residence renewal application within 30 days.

Among the documents that must be presented for a renewal application are a copy of the national Migration Card (in Portuguese, Carteira de Registro Nacional Migratório or CRNM) and a signed declaration that the applicant has no criminal record.

China – Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Workers Will No Longer Require a Work Permit for Mainland China

The Chinese government has announced that it will abolish the work permit requirement for employees from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
