BRAZIL – Brazilian Diplomats on Strike Causing Delays in Processing & Appointments

Brazilian embassies around the world are currently operating with a reduced staff due to a diplomatic strike. This could possibly cause applications and processing time to double, as well as reduce spots available on the electronic scheduling system by nearly 30%. Embassies and consulates will remain open, however, foreign nationals should contact their consular posts directly to determine the duration of the delays.

The diplomats on strike are pressing for better salaries, payment of overdue housing allowances, and official passports for all ministry personnel stationed abroad.

Foreign nationals requiring services from the Brazilian embassies should contact their specific Brazilian consular post through their website or by phone in order to determine if their processing will be affected. Those who are affected should expect and prepare for processing delays and rescheduling of appointments throughout the duration of the strike.
