AUSTRIA – Companies Required to Retain New Document for Foreign Workers

As a result of the ongoing audits conducted by immigration authorities, companies are now required to retain the educational diplomas and resumes of their foreign workers at the Austrian worksite in addition to the general documentation requirements. Companies should note that immigration authorities have shown extra scrutiny on the documents of foreign workers from Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. As immigration authorities are thoroughly enforcing the documentation retention requirements during audits and giving fines to companies who are not in compliance, employers should ensure they retain all of the required documentation onsite at all times.
