Canada Bans Entry To ALL Non-Residents Into Canada, Except US Nationals.

Just today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada

will ban entry to ALL non-residents, except US nationals.

Canadians currently abroad, are urged to return to

Canada, while they still can.  Permanent Canadian residents,

the immediate family members of Canadian citizens, diplomats, air

crews, and U.S. citizens are still being allowed into Canada at

this time.

Trudeau announced additional flight restrictions effective

Wednesday, March 18, 2020, that will see some international flights

rerouted to Montreal, Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver for dedicated

enhanced screening.

IRCC has also closed multiple visa posts abroad, and those still

open will work with essential staff only.  Therefore, please

expect delays in case processing for your visas and work permit

applications.  For those with a pending immigration matter

with Canada, IRCC also announced that they will have flexibility

measures in place to allow applicants currently impacted by this

global crisis, to comply at a later date with their immigration

requirements, when appropriate.

FGI recommends to existing Canadian work permit holders

that extensions are applied for, well in advance of a work

permit expiration, to account for delays and avoid disruption to

work.
