VIETNAM – Multiple Entry Visas for Business Must be Obtained Prior to Arrival

As of January 1st, 2015, any individuals seeking a Multiple Entry Visa for business purposes must obtain it from a Vietnamese Embassy overseas prior to traveling to Vietnam. The new law dictates that the three-month Multiple Entry Visa will only be issued on arrival for individuals coming to Vietnam for tourism purposes. In order for a foreigner to obtain a Multiple Entry Visa for business, a company in Vietnam must sponsor his/her application, including a detailed schedule of the activities to be done by the applicant in Vietnam. Processing time for this application is approximately two weeks. Please note that if in the case that a foreign national has traveled to Vietnam to start work on a work permit prior to the expiration of his/her visa, an in-country extension of the Multiple Entry Visa for business purposes is still an option.
