UNITED KINGDOM – New Immigration Rules Announced for Tier 2

The Home Office has recently announced that the Tier 2 visa scheme will undergo a few amendments as a result of the newly implemented Immigration Rules.

The new Immigration Rules consist of:

  • The minimum salary threshold for Tier 2 workers will not increase as a result of wage inflation unlike in previous years. The possible modification of this policy is contingent upon the recommendation of the Migration Advisory Committee’s proposal.
  • Tier 2 Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) will now be spread out throughout the year instead of being disbursed equally among the twelve months. Beginning on April 6, 2016, 2,200 CoS will be offered in the first month and will steadily drop down to 1,000 after one year.
