UNITED KINGDOM – Biometric Residence Permits Required
The United Kingdom Boarder Agency (UKBA) now requires non-EU nationals who are planning to stay in the UK for a period greater than six months to obtain a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP). The BRP is a document that containing fingerprints and a photograph, allows the holder to prove their ability to work in the country. Under the new procedure, foreign nationals will be issued a “travel” sticker affixed to their passport, which will permit them to enter the UK and obtain their BRP within ten days of arrival. The application for the BRP will not increase the visa application fees. Expected implementation date for this requirement is March 2015. For more information on BRPs, please see this UK Government site.
