SWITZERLAND – Work Permit Quota Reached

Switzerland’s fourth quarter quota of 500 available L-Permits, has now been reached. Employers and assignees will have to wait until the new quarter, on January 1, 2016, to apply for an L-Permit. However, L-Permit applications were approved prior to the fourth quota announcement so employers may benefit from confirming with the appropriate canton if they will accept applications prior to the release of the new quarter quota.

L-Permits are for European Union (EU) and European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) nationals on assignments lasting longer than four months. These quotas are applicable to first-time applicants and applicants converting L-Permits to B-Permits. The quotas do not apply to applicants renewing their work permits.
