Sweden – Insurance Certificates Required for Work Permits

The Migration Board of Sweden is enforcing a new regulation in which employers must now provide health, life, and occupational injury insurance coverage to its employees applying for work permits or work permit renewals. Applicants applying for a work permit or work permit renewal must now include an insurance certificate stating the name of the insurance provider, the employee’s name, and the start date of the insurance plan. The Migration Board has announced that it may demand more information in the future, such as insurance certificates for sick leave, parental leave, and pension insurance.
