SINGAPORE – New Job Category to Be Exempt from Advertising Requirement
Beginning August 1st of 2014, any short-term positions of less than one month in duration will not have to be advertised by their company on the National Job Bank prior to applying for Employment Passes for foreign workers. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has deemed several other categories exempt from the advertising requirements as laid out in the Fair Consideration Framework: intracompany transferees (ICTs), positions in companies with 25 or fewer employees, and jobs that pay a fixed monthly salary of $12,000 USD or more. Positions that are not exempt from these requirements are to be advertised on the National Job Bank for at least 14 days before the company is able to apply for an Employment Pass (EP) for a foreign worker. With this change, employers are able to avoid the arduous advertising process for assignments that would last less than a month.
