Panama – Visa Cancellation Requirements Enforced

The Immigration authorities in Panama are enforcing the return of employees original ID cards once the visa is cancelled. Even if the company requests visa cancellation, the original ID is still required. In the past, a copy of the ID along with a letter from the company used to suffice to initiate the visa cancellation.

If the employee leaves Panama without returning the ID card, the employer must obtain power of attorney singed by the visa holder to issue a migratory movement certificate to the Immigration Authorities in Panama, which will then cancel the visa.
