Panama – Shorter Validity Dates for Identification Card, Tourist and Business Visitors

The issued executive decree No 590, published on December 28, 2016 introduced changes to the validity period of temporary identification cards, as well as visitor and business visitor’s duration of stay.

The temporary identification card will now be available for a validity of six months, rather than the previously issued one year. This card is issued once the foreign national is processing a residence permit, which can take about 3-4 months for approval. Foreign nationals that currently have the one year validity may continue to use it until it expires. All pending identification cards will receive the validity of six months.

The duration of stay for tourists and business visitors will now be 90 days. Previously, such visas could be issued for 180 days.
