Malaysia – Exemption of Job Advertisement Requirements Removed

Company shareholders, specialists, and rotational workers that were exempt from job advertisement requirements in Sarawak in East Malaysia no longer apply. As previously reported, the week-long moratorium on work permits for oil and gas companies that was lifted, resulted in the authorities to remove the exemption of job advertisements from certain employers as well.

All employers must now submit job advertisements on Jobs Malaysia and in a local or national newspaper for three days. It must allow a 21 day period for local candidates to apply before an employer submits an employment pass application.

The job advertising exemption still remains for professional visit pass applications.
