Indonesia – Temporary Stay Permit

Foreign nationals in Indonesia with a work permit (IMTA) now have the option to stay in the country while their IMTA renewal is in process, if they apply for a new Temporary Limited Stay Permit (KITAS). This new permit will allow the foreign national to stay in the country for up to three months while their IMTA renewal is in process. However, the foreign national may not perform work until the renewal is approved.

Filing for a new Temporary KITAS will require the foreign national to appear at the immigration office to submit biometrics.

The expiration date of the KITAS will also be uniformed among all Immigration Offices in Indonesia. The expiration date will begin from the approval date of the IMTA, where previously it was at the discretion of each local immigration office.
