India – U.S. Adds India to the Global Entry Program

An agreement was signed on June 3 between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Barack Obama to add India onto the Global Entry program. The purpose is to facilitate the movement of business travelers easily between the two countries. Details of the program should be released within the next few months.

Once the program is implemented, if interested, Indian travelers must fill out an online application, and once approved, attend a biometrics appointment and interview with a customs and border patrol officer. The pre-approval process constitutes a rigorous background check. This will allow Indian travelers entering the U.S. at participating airports to expedite the process to use an automated kiosk to complete their immigration entry procedures.
