India – Tax Certificates Required for Short Term Assignees

Currently, foreign nationals in India on business, profession, or employment permits that derive income from any source in India must submit a No Object Certificate (NOC) in order to leave the country. This requirement has now extended to foreign nationals on a Resident Permit for short term assignments for up to six months.

Foreign nationals on a Resident Permit for short term assignments for up to six months must submit a “No Objection Certificate/Tax Clearance Certificate” from the Indian Income Tax Department to the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) in Gurgaon before leaving the country.
