India – Aadhaar Card Required if Stay is at Least 6 Months

Foreign nationals who have stayed in India for at least 182 days a year before July 1, 2017 will need to apply for an Aadhaar card if they will be filing tax returns, as they will have been deemed residents.

The Aadhaar card is a unique identification card issued by the Indian government to residents. If the foreign national has already left India on or before July 1, 2017 within the preceding year, they will be required to apply for the Aadhaar card in India, as it requires biometrics. An option to the foreign national would be to file their tax returns before June 30, 2017.
