China –Shanghai annual work permit inspections

Foreign employees who hold a multiyear work permit must file for an inspection application every year per the date their work permit was issued. If the inspection application is not filed within three months of their anniversary date of when the work permit was issued, the work permit will be deemed invalid.

The Shanghai Labor Bureau states that if an employee fails to file for an inspection application within the time frame of three months, they will have to reapply for a new work permit to legally stay and work in the country. It is advised that foreign employees file their inspection application 90 days before their anniversary date of when the work permit was issued.
