Canada – OINP Introduces Tech Draw

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has released a new strategy to address the technology sector’s labor shortage for those who are applying for permanent residence through Express Entry. This opportunity falls under the Human Capital Priorities Stream to identify those with technological skills with profiles currently open in the Express Entry pool.

If the applicant identified in the Express Entry pool as falls in the Human Capital Priorities Stream and has work experience in the target National Occupation Classification (NOC) code, they will be presented with a Notification of Interest (NOI) to apply. Once received, the application must be submitted within 45 calendar days.

The following technological NOC codes apply to the new initiative:

  • Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
  • Computer programmers and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
  • Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
  • Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)
  • Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
  • Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)

Employers who may be affected are encouraged to contact an immigration specialist for case-specific advice.
