BRAZIL – Simplified Requirements to Expedite Work Booklet Process

The Brazilian Ministry of Labor has determined that they will now accept a certified copy of the Official Gazette (“Diário Oficial”) as proof of registration with the Federal Police, which was previously needed in order to obtain a Brazilian Work Booklet. With this change, employers will be able to register their foreign employees for Brazilian payroll much more quickly. The Official Gazette must confirm the foreign employee’s complete name, parents’ name, work visa category, and other details. As such, the authorities will make small modifications to the Official Gazette to fulfill these requirements. Additionally, Work Booklets will now be issued through an electronic system. However, the manual system will be used until they have processed the already pending documents. Please note that while these changes have been approved, local authorities may require some time to fully implement them.
