BRAZIL – Ministry of Labor Discontinues Processing Visas in Physical Form

Brazil’s Ministry of Labor announced that starting on August 28th, 2015, they will require electronic submission of all visa applications with digital signatures and will then no longer process visas in physical form.

The Ministry of Labor has provided a 90 day period for this regulation, Ordinance No. 708, to be published during which applicants can choose to submit applications in either physical form or digital form. This also allows applicants time to become more accustomed to the new system and to obtain proper digital certification until the ordinance takes effect.
