Brazil – Member of Hague Apostille Convention
As previously reported by FGI in February 2016, beginning Sunday, August 14th, Brazil will be a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. The Hague Apostille Convention is a global inter-government organization comprised of 80 countries including the European Union, joined together to work for the unification of private international law.
With this change in Brazil, the process of authenticating documents issued by government authorities, such as marriage and birth certificates, which are required for work visas, residence permits, and other applications will be simplified and require less laborious pre-submission activities.
