BRAZIL – Brazil Joins the Hague Apostille Convention
The Hague Apostille Convention allows the government bureaus and other local authorities of its members to accept foreign documents that are apostilled in lieu of requiring document legalization procedures. By joining The Hague Convention, Brazil will be able to accept apostilled documents issued in other member countries instead of requiring the legalization of such documents.
The regulations currently in place require the legalization of foreign documents, however, legalization procedures can be a complicated and lengthy process in many countries. Beginning August 14, 2016, foreign nationals from Hague Convention countries submitting foreign documents to the Brazilian authorities should experience simplified visa application procedures and immigration processes.
