Australia – Salary Based Exemption for Applications Lodged Before July 1, 2017

Australia implemented changes to their skilled visa programs on July 1, 2017.

The exemption from a skills assessment for applications made under the Direct Entry stream of both the permanent Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187) have been removed for foreign nationals earning at least equivalent to the current Australian Taxation Office top individual income tax rate (180,001 AUD).

Applications that have been lodged before July 1, 2017 may still apply the salary based exemption to its case if it has not been adjudicated yet.
