AUSTRALIA – New 6-month Duration for Temporary Work Visas
Effective November 23rd, foreign workers holding a subclass 400 – Temporary Work (Short Stay) visa may stay in Australia for six months, as opposed to the current maximum duration of only three months. As additional change, the new legislation allows for a longer period of validity prior to the foreign worker’s entry. A subclass 400 visa holder will be able to enter Australia six months after the date that the visa is granted. Eligibility requirements remain unaffected and as such, processing times for the subclass 400 visas are likely to remain the same. This change is expected to offer employers greater flexibility with the employing of foreign workers.
