AUSTRALIA – DIBP to Pass On Credit Card Surcharge Fees to Clients

Beginning April 19th, 2014, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will pass on any credit card surcharge fees, which are fees that banks charge vendors for using their credit facilities, to their clients. Because of budget pressures, the DIBP is no longer able to cover these fees. The surcharge fee rates are as follows:

  • Visa/Mastercard: 1.08%
  • Diners Club International: 2.91%
  • American Express/JCB: 1.99%
