Australia – Airport Delays Due to Strike
Travelers requiring the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) services when arriving to an Australia airport should be aware that a strike is to take place this weekend. The Community and Public Sector Union gave notice of work stoppages to the DIBP to take place at international airports, service centers, and international mail facilities. The DIBP has contingency arrangements in place to minimize the impact of the strike, however, delays are likely to occur.
The strikes will occur all across Australia, beginning at Friday August 12th. Flights that arrive late August 11th and early August 13th may be delayed due to shift arrangements. Travelers are encouraged to arrive early to the airport during this time to avoid delays due to the protected industrial action.
